Lisa and Mike met at work, “Mike was so shy he didn't speak to me for four years!” Lisa told us. Love blossomed when the couple were thrown together on a work project and through Mikes’s love of cakes and Lisa’s baking expertise! The romantic proposal came when Mike popped the question in a candle lit star dome at Jodrell Bank on valentine's day.
The couple viewed a number of venues in the area, but Lisa tells us “We got very excited when we saw Hothorpe as it had everything we wanted.” They went on to view more venues, but Lisa explains, “We said to each other "It’s not Hothorpe is it? Nothing else is going to come close now."
Lisa and Mike opted for a civil ceremony in The Terrace Room at Hothorpe Hall, where 80 guests watched them make their vows. They had a fabulous theme of chocolate and champagne, and the seat covers were white with brown sashes and white lace overlays.
The big day didn’t start well, with a last minute cancellation by Lisa’s makeup artist. Lisa recalls the helping hand of Wedding Co-ordinator Lisa, “Lisa was a big help on the run up to the day. The make up artists assistant canceled at the last minute so we had to create more time to get ready somehow. Lisa came in early and even bought bacon sandwiches!”
As many couples say, your big day goes by in a complete whirlwind, and advice is often to take the time to enjoy the day and create memories that will last a lifetime. Lisa’s top three memories are filled with love and laughter!
The bride looked stunning in an ivory lace and organza dress with a sweetheart neckline, and a diamond belt. The Bridesmaids wore strapless mocha dress with a twisted/knot detail.
“Yes definitely. Everything was so beautiful and even when we were slipping off schedule Matt helped us to pull it back on track!”
