Hannah & Melvin - April 2016

The First Meeting

The couple met in February 2015, and in Melvin's words, “We knew by Easter that we could not live without each other, so plans of a wedding began”. Hannah goes on to explain, “Melvin and I did not want a ‘normal’ wedding. We wanted something that suited us – a humble Nigerian man marrying an eccentric English woman with one common goal – to be a blessing to others.”

Choosing a Venue

Hannah had visited Hothorpe Hall many years ago for a conference and saw that it may be a good venue choice. As soon as the couple visited Hothorpe Hall they knew it was the place. “The countryside surrounding it was breath taking and would soothe our guests souls. The ethos of the business even reflected how we want out marriage to be and the place was exclusively ours so we had freedom to be bespoke,” the couple explained.

The Perfect Day

“We hardly had to decorate the rooms as they are finished to such a high standard, said Hannah. “We had a blessing ceremony in the Chapel for 60 people and then finished the day with 130 people in the evening”. A radiant Hannah was surrounded by her bridesmaids who wore rose pink, and the bouquets and centerpieces continued the colour-scheme of pink and ivory. Melvin looked very dapper in tails and a midnight-blue bow tie.

Did the Team Measure Up?

We were very pleased to hear that Melvin and Hannah felt well cared for by the Hothorpe team: “All day the staff went out of their way to make things happen, and I’m sure they had never had a wedding as different as ours! Isn’t that what Weddings are about? Celebrating the start of your marriage and each marriage is unique… many venues would have freaked out with our level of uniqueness but Hothorpe Hall staff were eager to please and we are very grateful.”

What are Your Lasting Memories of your Special Day?

“There are too many to count! Luckily we had some amazing photographers who were able to capture it all for us! The icing on the cake was having all of our friends and family under one roof and for everyone to have the option to stay overnight if they wanted.”

Would Hannah & Melvin Recommend Hothorpe Hall?

“We would definitely recommend this venue - Each and every aspect of the venue – the rooms, the food and the staff (especially) were exceptional.”

Hannah & Melvin’s advice to other couples Marrying at Hothorpe Hall

“This is the start of your journey into married life - start it how you mean to go on!”
