Spend time together and celebrate your marriage during Marriage Week, 7th – 14th February 2017

13 February 2017

As one of Leicestershire’s most popular wedding venues, love is almost always in the air at Hothorpe Hall & The Woodlands! We are fortunate to witness hundreds of couples embark on their new lives together – enjoying their special day as they celebrate with their nearest and dearest.

Planning your big day and relishing in the excitement of your wedding is only natural, and provides families with memories to cherish for years to come, but what about the next step? Actually being married?

Marriage Week is an annual event, designed to help couples, “take time to pause and learn some new skills to take their marriages from good to very good!” say Marriage Foundation, the charity behind Marriage Week, who continued: “We believe that the wedding day is only the start and that all marriages can get better and better with each passing year.”

Everyone has different ideas of what makes a good marriage, but ask around and one thing that consistently seems to feature is that a marriage takes work. It is important to make time for each other as a couple – something that modern life often conspires to make more difficult! Research conducted by Marriage Foundation and published in September 2016, concluded that ‘Date Nights’ strengthen marriage (see more on their website).

So, this marriage week - which runs from 7th to 14th February in 2017 - set aside some time together. Ditch your phones, hang up your football boots, give Eastenders a miss, pack the kids off to the Grandparents or a babysitter and spend some quality time in each other’s company. What you do doesn’t really matter – just have fun doing it and appreciate the time you spend together without the distractions of daily life!
