Bicycles galore

4 August 2016

As we enter holiday periods, we naturally see a change in business at our Midlands event venues. People go on holiday and therefore, companies don’t tend to have business meetings or run training events. During these periods, we welcome a variety of different event types, from groups with a common interest on a ‘hobby’ break, through to faith family groups and company trade exhibitions. Last week was no different as we welcomed two very different customers, although they had with one thing in common: Bikes!

A group of church bell ringers enjoyed a week’s stay at Hothorpe Hall, spending their days cycling the country lanes of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire visiting churches and ringing their bells. Many a sleepy rural village was treated to delightful sounds from a talented bunch of bell ringers! The Young Bell Ringers’ Cycle Tour – a group of all ages – came from across the country and enjoyed a dinner, bed and breakfast stay in our comfortable bedrooms, with use of the grounds and indoor facilities such as the licensed bar.

During the same week, Hotlines – a UK manufacturer & distributor of leading cycle brands – took over The Woodlands venue, as well as three of Hothorpe Hall’s meeting rooms, to launch the new ranges from their bike brands to the trade and media. With all areas clear of tables and chairs, Hotlines set up their striking displays throughout the light and airy Woodlands venue as well as the Foxton, Naseby and Marston Suites in the old manor house. With the 2015-built Woodlands in particular designed with flexibility to welcome a range of events (including a strengthened floor and sliding doors to allow a car to be driven in for a product launch), it was great to see it in use for such a trade exhibition.

So, it’s fair to say that in late July 2016, Hothorpe Hall & The Woodlands proved that not only are both venues (and the team that manage them) flexible to accommodate a variety of events, but also that vastly different events can work well together. Although, we’re sure the shared love of bikes certainly helped the customers bond over an evening pint in the bar..!
