Develop and Strengthen Your Team

29 September 2014

Midlands conference venue, Hothorpe Hall, welcomed a group of delegates from London in September who were on a residential retreat away from their day-to-day work, to allow them space to develop strategy and strengthen their team bond.

Wanting some time away from the ‘big smoke’, the event organiser chose Hothorpe for its idyllic, yet accessible, rural location which allowed them to ‘get away from it all’ to concentrate on their programme.

Most delegates arrived by train from London – just an hour’s direct journey to Market Harborough near Hothorpe Hall – and kicked off their event with a pre-dinner team activity of wine tasting in Hothorpe’s Naseby Suite, spilling out onto the cobbled terrace.

With ten meeting rooms and 12 acres of gardens at Leicestershire meeting venue Hothorpe Hall, the event organiser was able to book a number of rooms between which the event could spread.

The event took place across three days and two nights and comprised a mixture of whole group strategy sessions, in the main meeting room – The Terrace Room - and breakout sessions in the neighbouring seminar room - The Drawing Room.

Interspersed between group sessions, delegates enjoyed further team building, including use of Hothorpe Hall’s outdoor games court and volleyball and croquet on the lawn. During the residential event, delegates were surprised when they were collected by tractor trailer and taken a mile up the country lane to enjoy a morning of clay pigeon shooting with Hothorpe’s team building activity specialist, Avalanche Adventure.

Hothorpe’s location on a sleepy country lane, surrounded by fields, footpaths and canal tow paths also gave the city delegates a chance to enjoy early morning runs, to clear their heads and get ready for the day ahead.

With Hothorpe Hall’s 55 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, the delegates were able to relax into their event, enjoying free time in the evening in Hothorpe’s Trafford Bar and Lounge.

Hothorpe Hall is an ideal place for people looking for both day meetings in Leicestershire and for residential events. Fully equipped meeting rooms and bedrooms, coupled with the gardens, a feeling of ‘escape to the countryside’ yet being very easily accessible by road and rail, make it an easy choice to ‘meet in the middle’.
