Kate & Michael's Christmas Wedding

Hothorpe Hall - December 2017

Christmas came early for Kate & Michael who married at Hothorpe just before Christmas last year. Following a few ‘brief encounters’ at university Kate and Michael finally met properly in June 2011 where they spent the entire evening chatting together – a date followed – and after almost five years together, the couple got engaged on a beautiful sunny ski slope in the Austrian Alps.

Searching for the perfect venue

Kate and Michael were looking for a South Leicestershire wedding venue where all their guests could stay and enjoy a relaxed day together. “When we looked around Hothorpe Hall we loved everything about it,” Kate explained. “The staff were really warm, the views and the manor house were beautiful and there was so much space.”

The Big Day

The couple married on 23rd December at All Saints Church in Gilmorton. “We decided on a winter wedding as we were becoming Mr and Mrs Frost so it felt very fitting!” Kate explained. Being so close to Christmas, there was a subtle festive theme, with little touches of Christmas throughout the day: “Christmassy canapes, Christmas pudding crème brulee for dessert, Christmas decorations as favours and a few Christmas songs along the way,” Kate reflected.

The bridesmaids wore floor length, burgundy dresses with flower girls in blush pink sparkle dresses. They matched the flowers beautifully – blush pink roses with burgundy ranunculus and berries. The men were wearing navy tailcoats with burgundy cravats to match the bridesmaids and some sneaky Christmas socks for fun!

“The staff at Hothorpe were brilliant at helping everything run smoothly and as we wanted. All our guests have commented on what a wonderful venue Hothorpe was and particularly on how amazing the food was. We loved how flexible they were at making our day exactly the way we wanted it. Our recommendation – book it, you won’t regret it!”
