Hothorpe Hall is rich in heritage and you can rely on our well-experienced and knowledgeable staff to deliver the perfect event for you.  We have an enviable range of on-site facilities from audio-visual facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi through to croquet and a children’s playhouse.

You can also choose to stay the night with us in one of our 55 en-suite bedrooms.  Often after a big party or function the last thing you want to worry about is getting home.  So why not stay with us and relax.  You can enjoy breakfast with us the following day and take time to explore the grounds the local area and many of the nearby attractions.

Your guests will enjoy the easy and convenient transport links offered by our location. These include the mainline Market Harborough station and road links such as the M1/M6 and A14.

Hothorpe Hall has 12 acres of lovely gardens and woodland in a tranquil rural setting with stunning views. The Woodlands is our new self-contained centre.  It is a quirky timber and glass built venue, nestled among the trees at the edge of Hothorpe's expansive grounds and is perfect for more intimate events.  It can provide formal dining for up to 60 guests and buffet and party space for 120.

All of these functions and parties can be held in Hothorpe Hall or at The Woodlands. Each venue offers a different experience and your choice of room within your celebration space will shape the look and feel of your event whether you are looking for a party atmosphere, a formal dining experience or a company get together.

The Woodlands

The Woodlands is our new self-contained venue.  It is nestled among the tress at the perimeter of Hothorpe Hall's grounds and is perfect for a wide variety of functions. It provides a comfortable and modern reception room for around 70 people; up to 100 for standing receptions. The Woodlands is ideal for companies who would prefer some privacy to discuss important matters or private parties who want their own place to party separate from other functions.

The main function room is the Mulberry Room.  It has lots of natural light and commands excellent views of the woodland thanks to its over-sized windows.  

The sound-proof sliding doors at the back open across the room into the Mulberry Bar and Lounge.  This gives you more room and a dance floor for parties who want a DJ.  This is ideal for birthday parties and wedding anniversaries where you want to have space to yourself and be able to party!

There is also the Mulberry Dining Room that offers more formal dining for around 60 people.  This is great for corporate receptions and more sedate private functions.  You can also enjoy breakfast and even lunch the day after your event if you choose to stay with us overnight in one of the 23 en-suite bedrooms in the Woodlands.

The Woodlands has a large decked terrace and woodland gardens to enjoy in the finer weather.  These offer great photo opportunities and drinks receptions can move outside in good weather.  It is the perfect setting for barbeques and outdoor parties over the summer.

Which Space is the Best for My Event?

The first consideration is numbers for your event.  This helps determine which rooms are appropriate for your event.  Then there is the feel you want to add to your occasion be it historic Manor House or quirky, modern woodland venue.  Both the Manor House and Woodlands are suitable for personal and corporate functions. For example, one major UK high street retailer had a staff summer party and BBQ at the Woodlands whereas another large retailer chose Hothorpe Hall for its meeting followed by staff gala dinner and party.

Catering

Catering is vital to the success of any event. You and your guests will be delighted with the high quality food available.  We offer a range of set menus that will give your guests a symphony of flavours.  We can also be flexible on certain dishes and accommodate your guests’ special dietary requirements.

Formal Dining with Us

You can select two choices per course from one of our formal dining menus for your whole party to choose from.  If you want your guests to be able to select from the whole menu then a supplement of £5 per person will be added to the cost.  In our experience, most event organisers find that the choice of 2 dishes is fine.  Please note this does not include special dietary requirement dishes, which you should notify us about in advance of the event.

We have two seasonal formal dining menus for you to choose from depending on when you hold your event.  We choose seasonal menus so you get the freshest and finest produce at the right time of year.  For further details on when the two menus are available, please contact our friendly staff.

Spring and Summer Menu

This inspired menu is perfect for the spring and summer months including fresh and light tastes from melon and Caesar salad starters through to roasted chicken breast with asparagus and feta cheese and tomato tart to fruit salad and crème brulee.   

Autumn/Winter Menu

This is the perfect warming menu reflecting the best of autumnal vegetables combined with meat and fish into hearty dishes such as roasted root vegetable soup or spiced butternut squash and coconut cream soup for starters followed by slow cooked pork belly or seared fillet of seabass before concluding with Hothorpe’s orchard fruit crumble served with our own boozy custard or Ginger and Clementine sticky toffee pudding served with our special toffee sauce and tangy ginger ice cream.  

 

Evening Hot Buffet Selector Menu

For those looking for a more informal dining experience, our evening hot buffet selector for just £24.50 per person is the perfect choice.  Select one dish from each section and we’ll take care of the appropriate side dishes.

 

Cold Fork Buffets

During the summer months or if you are eating in the afternoon then you can choose one of our cold fork buffets.  All dishes are served.  You have the choice of our Chef’s Premium Buffet for £22 per person or our Superior Buffet for £28 per person.

Our finger buffets are perfect for those looking for a simple and cost-effective solution to catering their event.

This simple and popular option is perfect for lunchtime and afternoon events or for those evening parties where you are catering for lots of people knowing they will have eaten dinner before joining you.

If you are looking to treat your guests to a traditional afternoon tea served in the elegant luxury of a traditional Manor House then we can offer you the perfect experience.  Afternoon tea is becoming increasingly popular with parties of ladies looking to get away from it all and relax in good company surrounded by beautiful things.  


Planning Your Event

Whether you are looking for an elegant afternoon tea for 6 people or a full function affair for 150, our staff will ensure that your occasion is special and memorable.

We will guide you through your choices of celebration space and menus to ensure that they are best suited to the needs of your event.  A dedicated staff member will deal with all your pre-event planning for larger functions and on the day our duty manager will be with you every step of the way to oversee the smooth running of your event.

Our assistance in ensuring the success of your function is available at every step of the process and is, of course, free of charge. We listen, take note and make suggestions.  Most of all, we are flexible, helpful and friendly.

All we leave you to do is manage the external factors such as sending out the invitations, keeping a track of your RSVPs or bookings, dealing with external suppliers etc.

External Suppliers

You may want a DJ, entertainer or similar third party to help with your event.  We can recommend reputable and reliable companies that we regularly work with but you have full choice if you want to use your own.  All we ask is that they have Public Liability Insurance and PAT testing certificates where applicable.

Please note the only restrictions on entertainment are no fireworks or Chinese lanterns due to the farmers’ fields, crops and livestock surrounding both venues.

Hothorpe Hall has lots of private rooms of varying sizes and can be set up as needed.  These rooms include:

Small Private Dining

The Foxton and Naseby Suites affords a beautiful view of the woodlands that surround the venue.  You can stroll out through comfortable double doors onto our cobbled terrace and take in the gorgeous scenery.  The suite can be accessed through a private entrance and it is the ideal space for intimate dinners. 

You can take photos on the cobbled terrace or walk round to our communal gardens that provide a stunning countryside backdrop.

Large Private Dining

Our newly refurbished Langton Dining Room is perfect for more formal dinners.  It can seat up to 110 for formal dining and offers access to a terraced seating area so you can take a breather and enjoy the magnificent views perhaps with a drink in hand weather permitting.  It adjoins the comfortable Welford Lounge that you can retire to after your dinner.

If you would like to take some photos of your celebration then our communal gardens are just a short walk away and provide plenty of amazing views.

Trafford Lounge and Bar

This is a large, well-stocked bar that has comfortable lounge seating.  It adjoins the Welford Lounge.  If you want your guests to be able to strut their stuff then we also have a dance floor. This is the perfect choice for evening parties where you want to get everyone together in an informal atmosphere.

Small Function Room

The Drawing Room is a delightful room and part of the traditional Manor House.  It overlooks our resplendent gardens that you can access through a single door.  The room has ornate period décor and is perfect for those looking for a venue that offers mingling space (be it social or business) over a finger buffet.

The gardens of Hothorpe Hall comprise a combination of large lawn areas that are easily accessible from the Drawing Room and give you the perfect backdrop for photos.

Large Function Room

With stunning views of the grounds through the large windows, the Terrace Room is a good size room and offers plenty of natural and artificial lighting. It has an arch that naturally divides the space. So it can benefit from formal seating at one end and informal sofas at the other.  This is ideal for people who want to celebrate an anniversary or momentous occasion allowing them to do a formal presentation before moving into celebration mode.  Blinds are fitted within the room to ensure the dimming of natural light for the presentation. A range of audio visual equipment can be provided.  These are free of charge (subject to availability) but must be pre-ordered.

As the name suggests, the room has its own door which leads out onto our comfortable and well appointed terraced seating area. You also enjoy direct access on to the manor house lawns that provide an excellent backdrop for photographs of your celebration.

Function Room Hire

The Foxton Suite is ideal for those who want some privacy for their event. This could be for the launch of a new product or a personal event that requires privacy. The suite has its own entrance and reception area. It offers direct access to the cobbled terrace and commands excellent views of Hothorpe's woodland.

Local Attractions

Typically, guests choose to stay the night with us after an evening function and make the most of their visit to the area.  In the vicinity you have:

Historic Market Harborough renowned for its beauty and wealth of high quality independent shops.

Harborough Museum- You can discover more about the fascinating heritage of the area.  The museum has a wide range of exhibits.  You must see the Hallaton Treasure which includes the largest known hoard of British Iron Age coins and the decorated Roman cavalry parade helmet from the same period.

Foxton Locks- Experience all that this unique waterways exhibition has to offer whatever the weather.  They have the famous flight of 10 locks and the Boilerhouse which contains many interactive exhibits and games.  The centrepiece is an interactive game where the family stoke the boiler to create the right conditions for the Inclined Plane to successfully operate.  You can hear the sounds of the boiler coming up to temperature and see the dials to monitor it giving you a completely immersive experience.

Wicksteed Park- this 147-acre park has fantastic scenery and is a wildlife haven.  You can spot, terns, kingfishers, diving ducks and hundreds of droning dragonflies in the summer.  Their arboretum contains a mix of exotic trees and their aviary is home to 60 colourful and chatty tree flying birds.

Twycross Zoo- renowned for its World Primate Centre status the zoo features a collection of almost 1000 animals of some 200 species.  Its fascinating exhibits include: the South American Tropical House, a tropical experience with simulated thunder and lightning and tropical rainfall; the Borneo Longhouse, and a Sri Lankan themed elephant walkway which gives unforgettable views of four females Asian elephants.

National Space Centre-  Find out more about Mankind’s journey of discovery in space.  Filled with activities for the young and old and playing host to regular events and tours, this is something the whole family will enjoy.
