Mother's Day From A Distance

Mother's day blog

Well, this is a bit of a strange Mother’s Day isn’t it? Self-isolation and social distancing wasn’t really what we expected! Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do to change it and hopefully it’ll all be worth it in the long run, so let’s try to make the best out of a bad situation. Here’s our ideas on what to do to make the best of today!

Dinner date

Ok, so we can’t go out for dinner, but we can still eat together! Have you ever been more grateful for FaceTime? Why not call your mum, decide a time to eat, set your phones out at the table and virtually eat together. It’s not quite the same but the idea is still there.

Again, thank you FaceTime. This is a brilliant one to get the kids involved and celebrate as a family. Get the whole family involved in a virtual game of charades, truth or dare, or even a karaoke competition. You can always get your cards or board games out and position your phone to show the other player.

Plan ahead

Whether you’re speaking to your mum on FaceTime or over the phone, make a plan. Put a strict ban on any news talk and focus on how you’re going to celebrate a bit later than planned. Search for spa days, picnic spots or local restaurants online and make a shortlist of places you might book once things have become a bit more normal again!

Treat yourselves

Similar to a dinner date, plan a little treat for yourselves! Have a chat over the phone while you’re both doing your nails with a glass of wine or sitting in a facemask with your dressing gown and slippers.
